Christmas Tree cupcakes

My husband has a potluck party tonight to celebrate the last day of one of his night classes. He asked me to make red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting & told me to be creative on decoration. Since Christmas is in a few weeks, I tried out some Christmas Tree designs that I've been thinking about.

Half I made look like white snow topped mountains with edible Christmas trees on top. I found these at my local Michael's Arts & Crafts store. They are suppose to taste like green apple, but tasted more like the "bread" you take at church.

The other half I dyed the cream cheese frosting green & decorated them with sprinkles to look like ornaments and marshmallow fondant stars on top of the tree!

Merry Christmas & congrats to my husband for finishing his semester!

Puppy Birthday Cake

My friend from church asked me to make her daughter's 2nd birthday cake! The party was held at Bounce U a fun place for the kids to jump around and get their energy out before nap time! Haha! Anyhoo, the party was themed around puppies since the Birthday Girl adores dogs!

I did a 4 inch white cake filled with fresh strawberries layered in between a marscapone cheese whipping cream as the filling! It was the first time I tried adding fresh fruit to my cake & it was a big hit! I covered the cake with marshmallow fondant!

Pink Birthday Cupcake

I tried making a vegan cupcake today for my cousin in law's 20th birthday. I used applesauce instead of eggs, milk, & oil. It turned out moist & still delicious! It was a single JUMBO cupcake with vanilla frosting, edible pearls, & personalized with her name, Demi, in pink white chocolate.

Thanksgiving Turkey Cupcakes

Chocolate cupcake with cream cheese frosting topped with an edible "turkey." The turkey is made of milk & white chocolate & Hershey's chocolate kisses.

These were chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting!

I am so thankful to be blessed with the time, energy, & love to bake goodies which make people happy! I am also thankful to have a supportive & loving family who allow me to do something I love!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Every good and perfect gift comes from above...including CUPCAKES! =D

Pink & Orange Girl Baby Shower

I threw a surprise baby shower for a friend who's expecting a Baby Girl!
I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting topped with pink & orange edible onesies!

(Sorry the photo turned out bad)

Here are the guests & Mommy to be posing with the cupcakes!

For favors & name cards, I dipped marshmallows in white chocolate, then sprinkled pink & orange sprinkles over them. They stood in colored MnMs in a mini shot glass with a clothespin as the name tag.

I made a mini diaper cake centerpiece topped with pink & orange daisies!

Pink & brown onesies were used as decorations!
She was surprised & very happy! It was so much fun to throw it! Congrats, Conny!

Phineas & Ferb Cake

My nephew was turning ONE & his parents asked me to make his very 1st birthday cake! He wanted chocolate cupcakes & I topped them with cream cheese frosting that I colored blue. I made cutouts of the Disney show characters out of marshmallow fondant and put them together like a puzzle! I also made the writing on the cake "Happy 1st Birthday ETHAN" out of marshmallow fondant.

The birthday boy's parents bought the Phineas & Ferb toy characters to place on top of the cake in case I wasn't able to do a Phineas & Ferb cake, but I think I did a pretty good job.

The birthday boy, his parents, & his older sister!

The birthday boy's older sister eating Phineas...or Ferb...I can't remember who's who...

Boy Baby Shower cupcakes

A friend from my church was throwing a baby shower for a friend & asked me to make over a dozen cupcakes for the party. Theme was blue & green. I decided to surround the cupcakes this time with a personalized wrapper & marshmallows to give the presentation a softer appeal.

I made chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting & topped them with homemade marshmallow fondant decorations of onesies. Everyone enjoyed them!

On display at the party...

A happy customer!

Spiderman Inspired Cake

My little cousin turned 4 years old & wanted a Spiderman cake. I made about 2 dozen chocolate cupcakes and 2 dozen white cupcakes colored blue. I used red and white marshmallow fondant for Spiderman himself.

I used the extra cupcakes that wouldn't fit on the cake board to serve with personalized cupcake toppers. The kids loved the blue cream cheese frosting over all the cupcakes!

Alice in Wonderland Inspired Cupcakes

I was crazy, but excited to take on 3 cake orders in the span of a 3 day period.
Here's my second cake for the Halloween weekend.
I had an order from my uncle-in-law's wife to make a pull apart cake of about 50 cupcakes based on the "Mad Hatter" theme from Alice in Wonderland for her granddaughter's 8th birthday. I decided to stick to the "Alice in Wonderland" theme. The individual cupcakes are covered in marshmallow fondant and the pull apart cake is covered in cream cheese frosting colored green to represent grass. The red roses, clock, hearts and queen's crown are all made of marshmallow fondant.

I did make a jumbo chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting with a "Mad Hatter's hat" made of marshmallow fondant on top for the birthday girl!

Close ups...

This cake was a litte stressful to make because of all the fondant details, but it was totally fun & I can't wait to do it again for you!

Pumpkin Cupcakes

Our church has a Halloween alternative for the kids called "Mega Night." I donated 2 dozen chocolate cupcakes with pumpkins and candy corn on top. I'm hoping to get my cupcakes out there, so I wrapped each cupcake with a wrapper with my contact info. Happy Halloween!

First time using the clam shell plastic containers. Very cool!

Some cupcakes had cream cheese frosting colored orange & the other cupcakes had chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting. Every cupcake has a little candy goodie!

Lakers Inspired Birthday Cake

October is a very busy month filled with birthdays & Halloween parties. On my husband's side of the family, there were 3 birthday celebrants in October. Since they & the rest of the family LOVE the Lakers basketball team, I made a red velvet 2 layered cake filled with cream cheese frosting and covered in purple homemade marshmallow fondant. To give it a personal touch, each birthday celebrant had a lemon cupcake with their name.

Boston Celtics Inspired Jumbo Cupcake

My husband is a high school teacher & wanted to say thanks to his T.A.
He asked me to make him a jumbo chocolate cupcake inspired by the Boston Celtics.
His T.A. loves Rondo #9 for the Celtics, so I tried my best.

I wish I had a photo of that kid smiling. My husband said he loved it & didn't want to eat it. He just stared at it throughout the class period. Hahaha!

Toy Story Jessie Inspired Cake

For my goddaughter's 6th birthday, she had a Jessie Toy Story party. As part of her birthday present, I made her a giant red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting (serves about 12), on top of a double layered chocolate cake in cow print fondant. To surround the bottom layer cake, I placed yellow MnMs all around the cake. It was pretty heavy and I was nervous it wouldn't make it to the party.
Thank goodness, it did! Whew! Thanks to my dad for his cautious driving & my mom for holding part of the cake during the long drive!
And of course, I had to bring some chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting topped with personalized "Jessie" toppers with the birthday girl's name & age!

**Since this was my first attempt at an actual birthday cake with fondant rather than frosting, I give thanks for my husband & daughter for putting up with my anxiety & stress during the decorating process. =P

Fall 2010 Cupcakes

It's officially the Fall season according to my calender, but it so hot here in Southern California. 100 degrees?!?! Oh, come on! For my women's bible study at Knott Avenue Christian Church, we are studying the book of Ruth for our Women's Connections Fall 2010. To continue the Fall look of our morning cafe sessions at church, I made sugar free chocolate cupcakes topped with milk chocolate leaves & vanilla frosting. I know cupcakes are not the exact breakfast snack you want at 9am, but cupcakes are what I do!

I handmade the chocolate leaves by melting chocolate, piping the leaves freehand onto wax paper laid out on a cookie sheet, then chilled the leaves in the refrigerator for an hour or so. I tinted the frosting light orange to give the cupcakes a "fall" effect. The cupcakes are sugar free because I substituted the sugar with Splenda for baking. Enjoy!!!

4 Leaf Clover Cupakes

My friend, Bradd, wanted to surprise his wife on her birthday with some cupcakes during our Newlyweds bible study session! Since she's a lemon lover, I made her lemon cupcakes with a lemon frosting decorated with chocolate 4 leaf clovers on top! Some of the cupcakes had white sugar pearls.

Although these were Irish themed cupcakes for the Birthday girl, Erin, I had to add something else to make them more personal! So, I added an edible "E" to some of the cupcakes as well! The birthday girl was surprised & sugared out by the end of the night! Yay!!!

Lakers inspired birthday cake

My uncle is a huge Lakers basketball fan & my aunt decided to surprise him with one of my pull apart cakes. His birthday cake was dark chocolate & vanilla creamy frosting. I decorated the cake with some marshmallow fondant dots & sugared basketballs. My daughter helped me make the mini cupcakes that surround the jumbo cupcakes.

Happy Birthday, Uncle Rey!

Girls Night In Brownie Cups

For a Favorite things party with the girls, each girl brought their favorite goodie under $5 for each girl that came to the party. Since there were 9 girls, each girl brought 8 gifts to give everyone! Weee! It's like Christmas in September! I came home with a movie night snack set, mani set & lotion, tea & dark chocolate, handy stationary, hand sanitizer & air freshener, hair ties & more chocolate, Ben & Jerry's ice cream, lip balm, & Halloween stationary!!!

Besides the gifts, everyone brought a little something to snack on during the night. My contribution was some truffle fudge chocolate brownies decorated for a girls night in!

Baby Gender Reveal Cupcakes

My high school friend was going in for her baby's ultrasound & decided she didn't want to know the gender of her baby just yet! She had the doctor's office call me with the gender & asked me to fill gender neutral white cupcakes with filling colored of her baby's gender. She later had a baby gender reveal cupcake party & with all her family and friends took a bite of my cupcakes & found out what they were having. PINK icing meant they were going to expect a baby girl and BLUE icing meant they were going to expect a baby boy.

what do you think they were going to have? BOY or GIRL?

CONGRATS! It's a BOY!
